[TC 8B4 32] [win XP] file pack with move to zip stopped
hello,
When I use Alt-F5 to pack multiple directories with "move option" and "in a separate file each", if one file is read only under one of the directory the process stop without doing the next one.
Is this a bug or limitation ?
Also when I do the same with a single file, it is possible to do it in background but it seems it's not possible with multiple selection.
Cdlt Charles.

I can confirm this for TC 8.0 bot 64 and 32 bit.
I get this error message: Could not delete one or more of the files - they might be write protected!"
It is the same in TC 7.56a.
This is for zip files .
Some other file types behaves like this:
7z (packed with Total7zip.wcx) just moves everything also the read-only file.
7z (packed with 7zip.wcx) moves all files except the read-only file which is left in the original dir.
sqx (packed with TotalSQX.wcx) moves all files except the read-only file which is left in the original dir AND gives a message that "One or more directories have not been deleted" befor it continues with the next directory.
rar (packed with DOS rar.exe 3.90) just moves everything.
arj (packed with DOS arj.exe 2.85 ) moves all files except the read-only file, but als leaves all subdirs (without their files) in the original dir!
I would say that the way TotalSQX.wcx handles it is the best approach.

The delete error is treated as a fatal error, so the entire operation is aborted.

Currently I'm too busy to rewrite the pack functions, it would require some major changes in the error passing. Maybe in a later release.

Any progress in solving this ?

Sorry, no time yet, it would require too many changes to the pack functions.

Woo hoo!!!!
Here is a quote from the history file. Downloaded the beta even before the link was posted on the main page. I will test it out:
"05.01.12 Fixed: Internal ZIP and TAR packer: Do not stop packing when moving files to archives, one archive per file/folder, and at least one file is write protected. Instead, report error after packing all files (32/64)"
Thank you, Christian Ghisler!
