Settings not saved on exit (explicit save works ok)

Post by *fpostma »

When changing tabstops, exiting totalcommander does not save the settings (have it set to NOT minimize on close). Explicit save works fine, ruling out protection issues.

Windows 7 USA, 64bit, fully patched, totalcmd 32bit 7.57 (24.02.2012). Not running as administrator.

Are you setting the tabstops using the mouse on the tabstop bar, or are you using Configuration -> Options -> Tabstops ?

If you are doing it with the mouse on the tabstop bar - you have to manually save the setting - that way you can temporarily change the tabstops without spoiling your setting permanently.

I do indeed set them using the mouse, entering the exact numbers using options is much to hard :)

I thought tabstops even when done via mouse were saved on exit, don't recall that ever failing. Then again I don't change 'm THAT often.

But what does the 'save tabstops on exit' option do then?

fpostma,

Where did you see such an option?

fpostma,
Options -> Operations , 'save on exit' panel on the right lower half.
In English there is only:
Save on exit:
- Directories
- Panels (brief/full, etc.)
- Old command lines
- Directory history

What language do you use?

Ah... yes .. I thought 'tabstops' was part of panels. I use English as well, no explicit 'tabstops' save in there, sorry for the confusion.

I don't think we are talking about the same - when I say using the mouse, I mean moving the tabstop borders over the file panels to the left or right with the mouse - in contrast to using the Configuration dialog.

When "Directories" is checked, TC should also save the tabs.
Not here. This is about tabstop positions - not about folder tabs...
