looks like NOT.if the behavior is the same with video,
Earlier, in 2.50 in same situation (trying to play ANY mp3 file) by f3 or ctrl+q I've got "access violation..." errors in x32 and just self-killing tc-process in x64. Now, it looks like that bug is fixed, but (probably) not completely.
As I can remember, versions before 2.5x were stable in such situation.
I'll try to test it again some later (have no time right now) with some other files. May be, if needed, I'll upload them for you somewhere.
p.s.
As I remember, bug is only with mp3 files. Not any another.
