[8.0ß22-x64] the calculation of dir size stops work

Post by *fleggy »

Hello,

almost everytime the calculation of directory size (SPACEBAR) stops work (only the question mark is shown) after/during cumulative queue copy operations. It seems the important condition is that the first queue copy is still in progress when the second one is added. I was trying 2 or 3 successive queue copy. I tried this:
- left panel c:\program files (x86)
- right panel some other disk
- F5,F2 Common Files
- F5,F2 second big dir (VMWare in my case)
- optionally F5,F2 third big dir (e.g. Microsoft Office)
- SPACEBAR on any dir
This scenario mostly ends with the question mark. One has to restart TC to ged rid of it.

Thanks, Tomas

Please test with TC 7.57a, it's already fixed in that version.

Unfortunatelly this issue is in the version 7.57a as well. I've just tested it in VMWare. I copied 1st big dir, speedily the 2nd one and then 3rd one. SPACEBAR was working in this source directory but as soon as I went to the root dir (same panel) and tried SPACEBAR on Windows dir and some others the question mark again remains.

EDIT:
After cca 10 minutes the calculated size appeared. I must admit I didn't wait so long when I tested TC8 beta22.

The Windows dir can take a long time if the disk is very fragmented - it may help to defragment it. Btw, here it takes just 12 seconds, but that's because my C drive is an SSD (flash drive).

I restarted the virtual machine and then the calculation of c:\Windows took cca 1-2 minutes (HDD). I'll test the upcoming beta tomorrow.
