Network copy, possible bug.

Post by *hlloyge »

I have PC with Windows 7 64 bit, and WDTV Live with USB disks, serving as NAS and media player.

When on default copy settings, network speed to WDTV is around 9 MB/sec, which is good for 100 Mb network. But when I change to "big file copy method", network copy slows to a crawl.
I am copying to network share, \\wdtvlive, not mapped disk.

Is this expected behaviour? I know it can slow copying to USBs, but this is not a drive, it's network.

Did you specify the local drives that are on the same disk? I experienced slow-downs (or more specifically the non-use of large copy mode) if the local drives are not specified. Another possible solution could be the declaration of "\" (which stands for network neighboorhood) for compatibility mode.

Yes, Dalai, that works, the second thingie with defining network into compatibility mode. I guess it's not bug, then, I'm sorry.
