• Thumbnails of images on my Nokia 920 WP8 phone do not display in TC 8.01, just generic icons.
• If both TC panels are pointed to WP8 folders, then copying between them does succeed, but the target panel does not refresh properly after copy: all copies display the same filename. The files actually have been copied and named correctly, however, which is verifiable in Explorer and after navigating away from the WP folder and returning.
• Attempting to either open or Quickview an image file residing on the phone results in a "Search path not found" message from TC.
No problems encountered using 2 Explorer windows for the same tasks. Everything works.

Just to follow up here, Explorer quit behaving properly with the WP8 folders in the middle of a copy activity. Suddenly no thumbs and several ghost duplicate folders that disappear when restarting Explorer.
So perhaps the issue does not lie entirely with TC.
