One keystroke gives 20+ letters in quicksearch

Post by *ctiberg »

Hello!

My new Logitech keyboard has this 'feature' when used with TC. Does anyone know of a way to fix it, so that I can use Quick Search again?

What happens is that if I press Ctrl+Alt+M (or M, or Ctrl+M, or whatever I've setup Quick Search to use), I get a lot of M's, not just a single one. This makes Quick Search almost useless :(
Best regards,

You are using TC 5.51 or older, right?

True, one was 4.5 and one 5.0 - I'll try with the latest version :)

It is problem in Windows not the keyboard.
It's caused by WindowsUpdate patch KB824141.
A newer version of patch has appeard, therefore another fix that MAY work (but I haven't tested it) is - uninstall this Windows Update KB824141 and download and install again. Might help, but not neceserily.
It may also cause problems with other software (That's why I recommend every user of Win2000 and WinXP to reinstall this patch. Problem surely concernes Win2000, might have little influence on WinXP, but does not concern other Windows as far as I know).
Anyway switch to TC6 or newer.

Hmm.. It does seem that the update you mentioned has something to do with it, since it worked when I removed the update.. But when I checked for updates and installed, the error reappeared...

But changing to TC6.01 worked, so it's solved :)
