-Why does the 64bit TC try to install to Program Files (x86)

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-Why does the 64bit TC try to install to Program Files (x86)

Like in the subject. I think the default should be Program Files.
And yes, I know you can change it. It's just that x64 apps by default "take" the Program Files, not Program files (x86).

It's just the location of your previous installation.

By default TC installs to "c:\totalcmd"!

Hello, MiloW.

There is the combined Total Commander 8.5 beta edition, which brings along the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version, too.
Due to Christian's design both versions can live in the same programme folder.

Now the question is: On a 64-bit Windows system where you install the combined Total Commander 8.5 beta edition, 32-bit plus 64-bit, which folder should be the default target: "%ProgramFiles%" (64-bit) or "%ProgramFiles (x86)%" (32-bit)? Both would be equally right or equally wrong.

Kind regards,
Karl

On my current system where I am typing this post, the %COMMANDER_PATH% looks even weirder: ~/.wine/drive_c/totalcmd
