+FTP error - Upload size mismatch

Post by *miszelek »

Dear TC,

I updated from 8.50 to 8.51, but now I get an error while transferring files to FTP: Upload size mismatch! Only after reverting back to 8.50 I could transfer files again.

Details: Used TC 32-bit on Windows 8 Pro 64-bit OS, used same FTP, same files. Did upgrade and downgrade 2 times and had same results.

Kind regards,
Michel.

Which transfer mode are you using and what kind of files have a mismatch in size?

I tried to upload an .apk file of 6.535.043 bytes which became 6.518.980 bytes on the server, hence the error: Upload size mismatch.

With some other files (.exe, .msi, .zip) I get the same error at first, but after another try it seems OK. Error seems random.

...Work-around: After several attempts I tried to transfer without the option: Compress during transfer (MODE Z) (in Configuration | FTP).
And this seems to do the trick!

A bit strange because this has option always worked before, have been a TC user since 2003... :)

Regards,
Michel

It is indeed a problem with MODE Z - it seems to hav troubles with block sizes > 4096 bytes. I will analyze it. You can disable MODE Z in Configuration - Options - FTP.

However, most servers support the APPE command to append files - TC will automatically resume the upload and append the missing bytes when this happens. In my tests, the files are always 100% correct afterwards.

What FTP server software do you use?

I have just sent you (to your forum e-mail) a link to a private pre-release version where this bug should be fixed. TC was sending an invalid checksum, the data itself was correct. Please let me know as soon as possible whether it works or not.

As reported by mail, your private build resolves the problem.

Hope to see the official update soon :)

Cheers, Michel.
