Feature Request: Directory Comparison

Post by *SUndanceKid »

Hi there,

I am using TC since WC times now and when TC came up with a powerful directory comparison I was even more happy. But there is one feature I would like to request in regards to directory comparison because it really really annoys me.

After you have synchronized two directories TC automatically starts over again with the comparison of the two. Why? Depending on the directory size that takes a long time and there is no way to stop it. All I can do is launch Task Manager and kill the TC process.

Request: Make it optional to "Re-compare after Synch". Some may need it, most won't I assume.

Best regards,
Sundance

Have you tried to press "ESC" ? It works for me.

Anyway as I know there are several people here who would like to have this option, too. :-)

ESC no worky

Post by *SUndanceKid »

Hi djk,

yes, of course I tried ESC. I do believe too that it is meant to interrupt the comparison but it does not work correctly. Obviously the 'compare' routine is so busy (or keeps the CPU busy) that it does not react to ESC anymore. Maybe the code can be rewritten so it checks the keyboard buffer every second but I suggest to add an option as I mentioned above. That wouldn't start the comparison at all after a synch, just like when you delete a file on the left or right side (that does not launch a re-compare either).

Regards,
Sundance

It works but... sometimes it really may last a bit too long before it stops.

SUndanceKid,

AFAIK it does... you just have to hold Esc for more than a second.
