FTP Client Improvement

Post by *Explosive »

Option to move files from one place to another inside the FTP server would be very great (like right click option "move" or "cut in Windows), because useing RNFR and RNTO commands takes a lot of time and is quite annoying. Sorry if I don't know that such a feature already exists in TC.

Try using Shift-F6.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

i've seen FTP server software (serv-U) now support SSL-secure connexions, perhaps this could be a new option for Total Commander's client...

It only lets you rename a file or a folder.

I mean in the way "file.ext" -> "subdir/file.ext"...

Check out the TC plugins (AFAIK, there is one for secure FTP).

Unfortunately this is for SSH, not SSL. I cannot write an SSL plugin myself because of the Swiss crypto export laws, and it seems to be far too complex for the average plugin writer...

FTP protocol handler

Post by *Laughing_Man »

It would be realy nice if TC could react on calls to the FTP protocol handler.
Means: I click on a link like ftp://planetmirror.com/pub/gentoo/ in my Browser an TC opens and connects to the FTP.

I would also like to have SSL capability for TC's FTPconnections.

wish: "I click on a link like ftp://planetmirror.com/pub/gentoo/ in my Browser an TC opens and connects to the FTP"
A workaround:
1. Righclick on link, select "copy address".
2. Go to TC, press Ctrl+N (new FTP connection)
3. Press Shift+Ins or Ctrl+V , press ENTER

With SSL FTP - if anybody knows about any plugin - please, write it in here.

Thank you for that hint. I know it very well and I'm currently using this Method. But I'm browsing through a large number of different FTP-server's every day and it is very anoying to do these three steps. :(
however I even don't know any other FTP-client that has this ability, so TC is quite fast with its shortcuts.
