Bug: Very slow response when access. missing CD or remov.dr.

Post by *katatonic »

TC reacts very slowly when one accesses the CD when no CD is inserted - it hangs for more than 10 seconds until it tells you to choose another drive. Explorer reacts immediately in this case and tells you to insert a CD.
The problem is even more clearly visible with removable drives (USB flash cards, card readers) - when the card is not present and one tries to open it, TC can hang for more than half a minute.

Maybe it would be useful if user could define some "timeout" for nonexisting drive. Separately for network drives (which may need more time) and separately for removable drives/CDs/floppies.

Very good Idea. Could be in wincmd.ini a separate section:
  • [RemovableDriveTimeout]
    g=10
    e=10
    s=3
like the drivehints.

:) Hello!
• I support this idea. I noticed that this delay is much longer than in old versions of TC (it seems…); I mean: versions 4.xx for instance.

:mrgreen:   Friendly regards,
