Yes, TC doesn't have built-in functions to display media file length, so you'd need to install at least one plug-in for that.

Therefore I assume you never heard of (Content) Plug-ins then?
Try the wiki entry for a first start.

The plug-ins listed above are just for audio, for general purpose plug-in
I would recommend a MediaInfo type plug-in, like that one.

I tried installing these plugin but can't figure out how to see the video/audio file length. Couldn't find user instructions on how to add these attribute in the file list. Help please.

TIA, Mike

Did you check the Wiki entry?

In short: to show content plug-ins fields in the file list you need to create a custom column, to which you can switch with e.g. Shift+F1, or RMB on the column headers, etc.
  • go to Configuration → Custom columns (or RMB on column headers → configure)
  • create a new view named e.g. "Media duration" and add the amount of columns you want
  • select for each column a field from your plug-in (the one you installed)
  • save it
  • switch to custom columns view (i.e. activate that new view you created, not necessary if you used RMB method)
As described in the Wiki you can also use these plug-ins in other program parts, like Thumbnails view, or user-defined help texts ("Tooltips").
