TC and freesco 0.32 built-in FTP-server (pureftpd)

Post by *valkenier »

I always used TC to manage files located on my freesco ftp-server. However with TC 6.02 it loses connection every now and then when copying a large amount of files. I reinstalled freesco whithout resolving the problem. If i use another ftp-client I have no problems, so it seems TC related. Has anyone any idea what causes the problem, and how to resolve this?

A log-file ?

:)  Hello !
• Please, could you bring here a part of the FTP log-file ?
• If you don't have one yet, just tick the box and fill the field in Configuration >> Option >> FTP: "Create a log file".
- Show it here rather as "Code", you can hide the private infos with xxx or so, of course.
- You could try to tick the box "Send command to keep connection alive", and decrease the default value from 90" to 60 ", for instance.
- If allowed and /or supported by your server, it should be useful to get an anonymous connection setting, in order to make test from our own PCs...

- To be continued...
  Kind regards,
Claude

Also if we could see a similiar log generated by other ftp client - it would be useful. Or if we could see the DIFFERENCES between these logs.

Thank you, I tried your suggestion. Unfortunately it doesn't make any difference. I still lose connection. I noticed that it always occurs after tcm states it's waiting for the server. Maybe the server response is too slow for tcmd? I tried increasing the WaitDelay from 5 to 30 in the wcz_ftp.ini, but this doesn't make any difference either. However I'm not sure what this setting implies. Do you have any other suggestions?

Other commands---

:)   Hello !

• Mark that connection in the servers list "Connect to ftp server", and edit it via the "Edit" button.
• On the sheet "FTP: connection details", tick the box "Send command to keep connection alive", like I told you already above.
- Set a low value, i.e. 30 seconds or even a few less (instead 90 s by default)
- The sent command is NOOP by default.
- Try also PWD and SYST
• Please, let us know what occurs then…
Note : a log is easier to read here when included within the CODE marker (tag)

Is it possible that you could make a "guest" account (or anonymous user access) with some unimportant file accessible be received and let us try to connect? I could test it and trace packets being sent.
I ask you to try to connect with that account and check if problem remains.
And provide us an IP or doamin name to access the server and username/password.
(in case you agree to let us in)

I will consider that, however I will try first if I experience the same problem when connecting from the internet myself. If that's not the case, it's useless to open up my ftp-server to the world.

I will let you know.

By the way, checking the box to keep the connection alive doesn't make any difference.
