"Fatal error in delete thread, aborting!"

I marked several files and pressed DELETE. The error message appeared after the first file was deleted. Had to kill totalcmd process as it did not respond to my actions. After that, I tried again. I selected the rest of the files to delete and the bug showed up again, then I took the screenshot. (the file DSC_0002.jpg had been already deleted by the time I took the screenshot).

Have you tried up-to-date TC version instead of this outdated one?

Hi and sorry, but I don't think the poll is a good idea. It does not help anyone. And you could just ask that in your post. To answer that, yes, I think you mentioned everything important do diagnose that error.

Now to the point. Total Commander 7.50a is not 100% compatible with Windows 8 (and its derivatives). And a delete crash is one of the known issues. You should update your TC to version 8.01 if possible. If not, try at least version 7.57a, it fixes most of the issues without adding new features or changing TC's behavior.

thanks for your replies. I will try the newer version of totalcmd, and the reason for me to use the older one is that there was just no necessity to switch. (The poll was a joke)

I am sorry to resurrect an old thread but with people upgrading to Windows 10 this issue has reappeared.

It seems there is some interference between Windows 10 Recycle Bin and the way TC treats deleting files.

Try unchecking "F8/Del deletes to recycle bin" in TC options and everything should work fine.

Yes, you either need to update to Total Commander 7.57 or newer or add the line
VistaDelete=0

to the wincmd.ini section [Configuration].
