Unable to copy and batch rename (other files) simultaneously

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Unable to copy and batch rename (other files) simultaneously

Post by *redfox »

TC 9.0b12, OS Win7 32bit.

This is a special bug, maybe hard to reproduce:

1. select multiple files from a directory and start copying them to another location in background (!) - it must be more or large files, i order to take it some time
2. while the copy is still in progress, select other files from another directory and try to rename them all using the Ctrl+M function (batch renaming)
3. when you try to start the renaming process, TC freezes and both the copy (step 1) and renaming (step 2) hangs
4. after a minute an error occurs that copying (step 1) is not yet possible.
5. the original directory what contained the files to copy (step 1) was spontaneously renamed to random characters during the freeze.

I could not reproduce this problem. Anyone else?

Some questions:
1. Did you copy with F5 - F2, or with F5, Enter, Background? I tried both, with total file size >8GB.
2. What parameters did you use in the Ctrl+M function?
