[TC9b17-] Better support for high-res displays

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[TC9b17-] Better support for high-res displays

Post by *wisekat »

I'm using TC on my ASUS N552VW laptop equipped with an UltraHD screen with 282ppi. I set the system scale factor to 300% to work comfortably. I see some improvements for high-res screens in TC9, but there are still some issues:

As I understand, all these issues are related to images prepared for 96ppi screens.

Yes, there are currently no images for 300% scale, sorry. There are currently also no plans yet to add them.

As a software developer, I do understand that it's hard to provide native sharp images for this scale factor or other similar big scale factors (obviously, there are no vector sources for your images). However, you could prepare the required images if you simply zoom in the original 96ppi images using the scale factor of 300%. It would be enough to recognize those icons on our UHD screens without using a magnifier.

An alternative solution could be dynamic zooming of the images when you draw them in the interface.

I also think that TC should scale icons in case of large scale factor, otherwise it looks inconsistent.
