content search not working when everything is enabled

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

content search not working when everything is enabled

Post by *kbez »

I am using TC 9.0 RC3
I would like to make a recommendation for improvement or report a minor bug - depends how you see it
when using the "Find Files" (Alt+F7) search and "Everything" check box is checked, then "Find text" should not be enabled, because the search doesn't look into the files' content

Actually it does look in the files! TC just performs a normal search by name with "Everything", and then applies its own search rules to the results.

So if you search e.g. for *.txt and content "kbez", TC will first use "Everything" to look for all text files under the specified directory, and then look for the text "kbez" in a second step in the found files.

Thank you, I can confirm you are right.
I don't know how, but I was under the impression that I tested what you propose and it wasn't working, but obviously I am wrong.
Thank you for your time and excellent product.
