Feature request: Local copy abort & resume (like FTP)

Post by *ono »

Hi,

Sorry if there's previous thread about that.. but I haven't found one which is exactly about this idea.
I'm using a lot huge files > 1GB copying them over the different disks or the networks. Those are movies or compressed raster map images.

And there's a small thing that's missing in TC - a file copy break and resume option. Sometime I need to break copying the 5GB file over the network because I need to go out take my laptop.. or whatever.

I hate that everytime I do that I need to restart the copying again... and again wait 1HR or more to transfer that file. So Mr. Ghisler please make it possible to break file copy without deleting the incomplete file.
And next... allow to resume (append) to exising file.

There's no actually implementation problem... just a little fix.

I hope my wishes will be fulfilled
Thanks :)

Press the Background button and then the Pause button on the background window.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

allow to resume (append) to exising file.
Slowcopy does this nicely. If you copy ends for whatever reason, the target file isnt deleted, and Slowcopy is able to resume later.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Great.. but what then? 8) I want interrupt copying the file i.e. pressing [Interrupt], keep it uncomplete... turn off the TotalCmd. Turn it on later select to copy file over uncomplete one again and have an option to [Resume] like in FTP mode not only [Overwrite] or [Skip].

I know.. but I don't see the point for using such a ext. application just for that. I wish to have this feature in TC.

Anyway thanks for your response,

Oh, sorry then, I misunderstood your question.
