Move an image in Viewer by mouse

Post by *Slavic »

This is a suggestion following my bugreport. We still are unable to move a large picture in the Viewer's window using the mouse click-and-drag, similarly how we can move an image on the touchscreens. Click on the image has no effect. It would be nice to implement such option, very handy on non-touch PC screens.

Practical example: looking in TC Viewer at the photos taken by digital camera or mobile phone, which usually have high resolution, much more than typical screen size.

This would be unusual for mouse interaction on Windows. That's what scrollbars are for. Click+Drag is reserved for selecting text (in text or binary view).

Christian,
Well, I think most if not all image viewers do it for images. (Photoshop, ACDSee, XnView, Lightroom, etc.)

Since Click+Drag currently does nothing it could indeed be made something useful, like moving the image around. And I agree that it wouldn't be so unusual. Even in IrfanView there's an option for this: Options > Full screen / Slideshow > Use right mouse button for scrolling (if image larger than screen).

Irfanview uses left mouse button click+drag for image selection, e.g. to use "crop" to show only a part of the image.

Christian,
Irfanview uses left mouse button click+drag for image selection
It also has an option "Use left mouse button for scrolling". And since we don't do any cropping in Lister, the left mouse button is free anyways.
