MUT (Multi Rename Tool) requests old DOS 8.3 file names

Post by *Meliphagidae »

If I try to rename files using the multi rename tool (= Mehrfachumbenenntool = MUT) it throws an error (in German):

error, name too long or contains unallowed chars!
May only have 8 chars for the name and 3 chars for the extension!

the_intended_new_name.extx

TC Version 9.10 64-bit (2017-10-20)

Hope, that's all you need. I'm new to this forum.

Cheers, Meliphagidae.

Hi and welcome Meliphagidae.

Which OS do you use?

What have you entered in the NewName & Extension box?

What do you want to rename?
Old name / Wanted name
path length

You can press Ctrl+C on the message and copy that in here.

fixed:MUT (Multi Rename Tool) requests old DOS 8.3 file name

Post by *Meliphagidae »

This is fixed.
Sorry, it was not a bug, it was a configuration error. Maybe the configuration changed during upgrade from TC 9.????
In any case "use long filenames" in the view-tab of the TC-configuration was not checked. Now I've checked this and now multi rename tool (MUT) behaves as it used to do.
BTW: I'm using Win 8.1
Bye!

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
