Deleting files from rar archive

Post by *freestyle01 »

When I try delete any files from RAR archive, I've got following message.

"Canot find external pack program. You need to install and conifgure an external packer to handle this specific archive"

I can can open this archive and view this files (in temporary directory), but i can't delete them.
This problem doesn't appaer in case of ZIP archive.

Do I need a special plugin for rar archive?

Of course,
you need WinRAR installed and configured as external Packer for RAR format.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3447)
TC 11.03 x64 / x86
Everything 1.5.0.1372a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.3, Listary Pro 6.3.0.73
QAP 11.6.3.2 x64

Is there any possibility to use an alternative option?
WinRar is Shareware software.
I tried use 7zip (because it can pack and unpack rar archive) but when I made association (In packer TC settings) between rar files and 7zip plugin (WCX) it doesn't work properly - TotalCmd stopped to showing rar files in searching results.

No, at least no legal one.

Yes, the same way TC works (one license bought, lifetime updates)

Unpacking of files is freely usable, while packing (incl. deleting and renaming) is only possible with original software.

Since the compression algorithm of the RAR format is closed-source, only WinRAR (and the console version RAR) can create such archives. When you want to create or modify RAR archives, you have to use WinRAR (or RAR). Simple as that.
