can't edit text document

How do I get the 'virtual keyboard' (SIP) to display so that I can edit a file on my pocket pc?

The keyboard should show up automatically when the editor is opened. Otherwise click the keyboard button in the lower right.

The keyboard doesn't show automatically and there is no keyboard button in the lower right when I edit a file.

Here are the steps I'm doing:
1. Tap a .TXT file to highlight it.
2. Tap "File | Edit" which brings up the editor with the file contents displayed.
3. The menu/toolbar is now as follows (from left to right):
File Edit Save(icon) Cut(icon) Copy(icon) Paste(icon) Undo(icon) Find(icon)

If I tap the Find icon the keyboard displays but disappears once I tap OK or Cancel.

I'm running on an iPAQ 2215 (pocket pc 2003).

I download Total Commander a few days ago (from https://plugins.ghisler.com/ce/tcmdpocket.exe) , so it should be the latest version. "Show | About" displays Total Commander/CE V. 1.21

I noticed some problems with the PPC2003 emulator (which work find with PPC 2002), so I will try to find a workaround in the next version.

workaround

I found a workaround to the problem: I assigned one of the iPAQ's buttons to <Input Panel> via Start | Settings | Buttons.
When editing a file in Total Commander I simply press the button to display the keyboard!
