Sync Dirs, compare by content not supported (?) -> allow manual compare

Post by *DrShark »

Currently in Synchronize Directories after pressing Compare with "by content" option checked in some cases (come FS-plugins/archives) where comparison by content is not supported TC shows ? (question) mark in <=> (middle) column for files with a same name. However, even in this case it's possible to compare 2 such files under cursor using "Compare left & right    Ctrl+F3" context menu item.

Suggestions:
1. After comparing using Ctrl+F3, change ? mark in <=> column for files under cursor according to compare results.
2. Add also context menu option "Compare left & right (selected)" to compare by content files in selected lines of Sync Dirs tool, also changing ? mark after comparing for them.

The ? is shown when TC doesn't support the comparison within the sync tool, because it would have to download/unpack all the files just to compare them.

1. It's still possible to compare 2 files with Ctrl+F3 which will use that download/unpack method. I suggest to after using Ctrl+F3 to change the ? mark for compared pair to a mark which represents compare result.
2. Sometimes when there's a need to compare many small files, a need to download/unpack all the files just to compare them is not an issue. I suggest to add separate command which will compare selected pairs using download/unpack+compare method, and after such comparison will change ? marks for them according to compare results. You can add this comparison in 2 ways:
a) additional checkbox "download/unpack if needed" in Sync tool behind "by content" checkbox;
b) context menu item "Compare left & right (selected)" - this one will use download/unpack even if above mentioned checkbox is unchecked. Should also change ? marks according to comparison results for selected files.
