Storing shapshot (tree) to a file

Post by *raimonds »

Hello,
Is it possible to store a snapshot (hdd tree) in to a file to see it later when particular hdd is not more connected to the system.
If no, let`s add such option.
I have lot of archive hdd and it is hard to connect particular hdd to PC every time I need see is some file or folder on that hdd or not.
The snapshot file will help a lot.

Thanks,
Raimonds

try the packer plugin "DiskDir Extended" which fits exactly to your needs.

Once you have created a list file, you can open it at TC and the files are shown like a usual file system.
Additionally you can use "Synchronize Dirs" within this list to compare it with a local file system to see the differences.

Unfortunately, DiskDir Extended is not supporting national characters (unicode?) in file names
and is crashing together with Total Commander on a half of way (on different % of progress) without any debug information.
Any suggestions? May be to a some third party tool ...

There is DiskDirW with Unicode support.
