Problem accessing mobile device through directory hotlist

Post by *dimitrip »

Hi.

I am a long time user of TC directory hotlist, where I had shortlisted several folders in my mobile device. In Windows 7 it all worked fine, but after recently upgrading to Windows 10 these shortcuts don't work anymore. There is no error message, they just don't take me there. I deleted the old shortcuts and made new ones, but they didn't work either. I have no problem accessing the mobile device in steps, starting with the drive combo box. It's just the shortcuts that don't work. Windows explorer path ("This PC\(mobile device name)\..." doesn't work either.

What should I do to have these shortcuts working?

Thanks,
D.

I can confirm that the Directory hotlist does not work with folders on my android 6 smartphone under Windows 10.

It works for me under Windows 7 and 8.1, but not under Windows 10 and XP. I have testet with TC 9.22a both 32bit and 64bit.

The path that is stored in the directory hotlist is the same under windows 7, 8.1 and 10. Under Windows XP the path is always cut off after the first dir under the device name (SD-card or Internal storage) - but even if only the path to the device name (no subdir) is saved in the Directory hotlist, the entry in the hotlist does not work.

I have made a bug report about this: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=53538

Does it work in older TC versions (e.g. 8.52a)? Just trying to help finding out whether or not this is a new or so far undiscovered bug. I can't check it myself because I don't have a smartphone.

I tried with TC 8.52a and TC 9.12 on my Windows 10 PC: They both have the same problem with the Directory hotlist as TC 9.22a does

To my knowledge, the idlists are different each time you disconnect and reconnect a device on Windows 10, so you can't use shortcuts any more.

Ah, I suspected this might be the reason.
Thanks everyone for looking into this!
