Behaviour of CTRL-Left/Right
Hi folks,
as I understand, this shortcut opens the archive/directory under the curser in the other panel. So far so good.
But when I place the cursor over the [..] dirup - what happens ?
The same directory is opened, not the directory above the sourcedir.
Is this intentionally? Imho a lack of consistency!

Hello !
¤ I confirm that behaviour. Not sure, but I guess it's designed like this. [..] isn't a real "normal" directory.
So, it can't be open.

Hi Claude, I do not agree.Clo wrote: [..] isn't a real "normal" directory.

as [.] represents the current directory is [..] a symbol of the upper dir.
Go into a subdir, mark some files and press [F5]. Then insert [..] as target. it will be copied to the upper dir.
But I had a look at the help and there is declared:
Code: Select all
If the cursor is not on a directory name, the current directory is displayed instead.
Neverthless I think it would be more consistent if [Ctrl]+[Left/right] on [..] would open the upper dir in the other pane.

Although I have to agree that [..] means the upper directory, I use this inconsistency as a convenient way of opening the same directory in the opposite panel.
I am not really sure if I would like to miss this strange feature.

Karl

I'm on the same case, and many more can be. If the new feature of openning the parent appears...maybe a checkbox on the configuration option can be the solution (non checked by default).

I wrote it this way (same dir) because having the same dir in both windows is the most often used situation, but it couldn't be achieved in a dir containing only subdirs.
