Today I have updated my phone to Android 10 Beta 6, which is the final test version before release. Unfortunately, the situation with a bug related to wrong icons on the widget selection screen is the same. I could write a bugreport to Android developers, but some problem is, TC is also in the beta state now. And none among all other installed apps show the same bug. Could you please check again, apparently the problem is on the TC side?

I have checked it now: It's a bug in Android Q and affects all apps which have gotten at least one update.

I have now created a bug report here, where I also provide screenshots of TC and another affected app (Aliexpress):

Panel Comparison and Invert Selection proposal Re: Total Commander 3.0 beta 1 for Android is available now!

Post by *Hammillian7 »

QtHelex wrote: 2019-04-08, 18:32 UTC What do you think of a "compare directories" button which opens a dialog and just asks what should happen after the comparsion is completed?

Dialog:
binary compare left and right panel
  • Mark all binary identical files after comparsion on both panels
  • Mark all files with the same name but different content on both panels
  • Mark all files which are missing on the respective target on both panels
[Start] [Cancel]

When the comparsion is completed basically nothing harmful has happened and the user is able to decide on it's own how to proceed with the selection result. (delete, copy again, check content of files, zip, ...)
Sorry if I arrive too late and this feature development is already advanced, but I propose a panel comparison like follows (surely Mr. Ghisler would improve it, within the reasonable possibilities):

Command: Compare panels
Opens up dialog:

Compare criteria (independently markable, ANDed):
O Name (probably fixedly marked or not even shown)
O Date
O Size
O Binary contents

Select:
O Equal
O Keep (pls, improve option name)(=newer or different or non-existant in opposite panel) (behaviour similar to Shift-F2 in desktop TC)
O Different (matched opposite, but different (according to comparison criteria) )

[Start] [Cancel] (buttons)

Also, it would be good to offer the possibility to restrict the comparison to the (pre)selected files in both panels (pending to study the details of the restriction and of the human interface, probably leveraging some previous specs or code from desktop TC)

Apart from this comparison, already from the panel view with selected files marked, I would add an "Invert selection" quickly accesiible command (like "num-*" command in Desktop TC) (useful for this selection by comparison and for the rest of selection methods )
(Edit_190815_0230: of course, inverts selection of just the files in the active panel).

I am quite sure all this functionality would be very useful, specially managing intelligent backups and restores with the USB-connected memory volumes, and a TCAndroid clear competitive advantage over other android file managers.

I was just about to suggest the same thing.

Is there a way to get out of fullscreen mode ? Once I enable it, then only way I found to disable it is by clearing the app storage data...

In some cases window "Target file exists!" is not convenient, because file size is dynamic value (b/kb/mb and so on): is it possible to add size in bytes, like in Win-version TC? Maybe optional.

Total Commander should automatically add a custom button (icon with 3 dots) to the secondary toolbar when you switch to full screen mode. This button allows to open the menu, which allows you to go to the main settings.

If the button is missing, you can just add it yourself. The command number is 500.

Christian, although it's a time to receive the final version of Android 10, which has been released yesterday, the OTA for my device is still delayed and is expected approximately within a week. However, current situation with Android 10 Beta 6 and TC 3.0b7 is, indeed, interesting:

Image: https://prnt.sc/p1oqmz

As you see, the TC widgets look normally, unlike it was in 3.0b6 version. However, the bug itself remains and is clearly visible on other apps, WhatsApp in particular. Most funny, if this word is suitable here, is that the Gmail app (last version from Google) has the bugged icons too. So, the Android devs should definitely fix this even without additional reminds from the external app developers.

I will report the situation with widget icons in the final Android 10 as soon as it arrives.

The bug occurs when ANY app gets updated. I have documented this in two Youtube videos:

Total Commander Desktop Links dual install problem-QPP6.190730.005.B1:
https://youtu.be/8cGHWkAoC0s

Aliexpress Widget dual install problem-QPP6.190730.005.B1
https://youtu.be/PG02v-1gTPQ

I tried with the emulator only because none of my devices has Android 10 beta or final. I'm looking forward to your tests with Android 10 final.

Unfortunately, the situation with widget bug is not changed yet.
Android 10, build QP1A.190711.020 for my Pixel 3, patch of 5 September 2019.

All 3 TC widgets look good, but the widgets of Google Drive, Gmail, Google Keep and Google Sheets have either wrong size (like a single 1x1 icon in the 3x3 field) or wrong look (a default white robot head on blue background). This list includes the Google apps which previously had the correct widgets.

As a result, I suppose that TC icons may (or may not) also be distorted after the next app update, depending on whether TC was installed before or not. Only Android 10 developers can fix fhis bug which may happen with any app, including those from Google.

My conclusion is, from the point of TC for Android development this bug should be simply ignored.

Thanks, it's exactly the same problem. Unfortunately Google is still ignoring my report:
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/139716860

Maybe it would help if some people would comment there, and "stare" the report.
