[9.50b2] New files, old version info

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[9.50b2] New files, old version info

Post by *MaxX »

I've just dowlnoaded new TC 9.50 Beta 2, then compared with TC 9.22a final and found something.

Here's file list:
TC7Z64.DLL
TCLZMA64.DLL
WCMICON2.DLL
CGLPT64.SYS
CGLPTNT.SYS
TCMADM64.EXE
TCMADMIN.EXE

These files have the same version info, but diffrent content.

Is there wrong info? Broken files? Malware?

There may be the same source code used, but recompiled with updated compiler or changed compiler settings. Exe files for sure are signed with digital certificates so they have newer timestamps inside.

WCMICON2.DLL has been updated to better support dark mode.
cglpt* are the older versions because they can be loaded on Windows 10 as drivers, the newer cannot.
tcmadm* has been improved.
The tc7z64 dll was updated due to this fix:
21.03.19 Fixed: Couldn't open 7z archives with Unicode characters from different codepage (e.g. Chinese on English Windows) (64)
