plugins not working: RequestProc err

Post by *maskzyx »

Hi,
I installed the latest v3.0b12 but cannot get plugins working. I tried LAN, WebDAV and FTP, they behave the same way.
If I touch <New server> and enter a new name, it will prompt out such a message:
RequestProc err: Attempt to invoke interface method 'int com.android.tcplugins.FileSystem.IPluginFunctions.getSupportedFunctions()' on a null object reference
And if I touch <Settings>, the app just forced closed with no message during the setting page showing up.

I tried reinstalling the app and also tried v2.91, but got no luck.
Did I accidentally delete something in my phone or just met a bug? I'm using Android 9.

This is caused by power saving functions on your device. Itmay work with the beta:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.ghisler.android.TotalCommander

If not, you will have to whitelist Total Commander and the plugins to make it work.

Still not working :(
Play Store did ask me to update TC and LAN plugin, the version showed in about page is still 3.0b12 after updating though.
I'm not sure what power saving function is, but I checked following settings:
- Battery > Battery Saver disabled.
- Battery > Battery Manager > Background activity manager, "Auto Activate" and "Lock Screen" enabled for TC, no plugins listed here.
- Permissions required by TC and plugins are all set to allow, mainly "Storage" and "enable WLAN".

Is anything required such as Google Services Framework? As you mentioned Lenovo, lots of manufacturers may cut that off for phones sold in mainland China since almost all Google services including play store is actually not accessible here.

No, neither Total Commander nor the LAN plugin need the Google play services. Only the Drive plugin (for Google Drive) needs them.

You don't need to disable the entire battery saver - there are usually per app settings where you can enable plugins.

Well, I didn't find any other settings that may related to this. I guess I'll just wait for future releases (or my next phone 8) ).
Thanks anyway.

I could send you a special version of the plugin with a launcher icon. This way you could launch the plugin from the Nokia launcher, and then TC could try to access it. Please contact me by e-mail to support at ghisler dot com if you have the time to try this.
