[SOLVED] Synchronize two partitions with Empty folders bug from 9.2x

Post by *retalv »

I apologize, just a question, will the problem of empty folders ever be corrected?
Maybe I see a bug where it doesn't exist, but the function would be interesting for me if it worked as I think it should.
In the last beta nothing is reported, nothing has changed in this sense and if it ever changes it will simply stop disturbing.

Unfortunately the error doesn't occur here. I have tried to replicate your directory structure as well as possible, but the empty_directory folders always appear. Is there anything special about these drives?

Damn!
To be honest source and destination are two volumes encrypted with Truecrypt v7.1a: from what you write probably the problem is that ... I do further tests using two volumes NOT encrypted and I'll let you know about the results. In any case, thanks for having warned me about this eventuality.
See you very soon... ;-)

I have test results and unfortunately, or fortunately they are discouraging ...

My system data:
Windows7 Pro, ASUS Matherboard, 16GB RAM
2 WD mechanical (no SSD) SATA HDs different from those of the previous test and with newly created and NOT encrypted volumes.

I did the first test by connecting the disks to an "inateck" USB 3 docking station, so I repeated the test on the same HDs connected directly to the machine's SATA ports.

The result was identical, confirming that the bug does not concern the Truecrypt filesystem nor the disks used in the previous video.

It would be nice to go to the bottom of the problem, but I understand that if it only happens to me I will have to give myself a reason. :(

I attach a link to download the second video (1 minute) ...

Could you test with a simple directory structure:
1. On these truecrypt drives
2. On not encrypted drives

Hurray !!! :D

What you ask me has already been done in previous tests and without result, Truecrypt has no influence on this bug, instead I understand what creates it even if I don't understand why ..!
I leave you two links, one for the last video that shows the reason and an archive of the tree of the directories I used ... the problem comes from the [ZeroOneADAPT] folder and or from its content (the sources of a small utility for Win7 written in AutoIT).

That single folder of small size affects ALL synchronization (3TB of data).

Now something to work on you should have it ... ;-)

NOTE: in the [ZeroOneADAPT] folder there is a hidden folder named [debug], the information could be useful.

Links ... deleted.

Fantastic! :D :D :D

Now the synchronization perfectly synchronizes even empty folders.

If I can afford it, the wording is misleading and it would be more correct to replace it with ...

"Empty folders" >> "Orphan folders"

... in fact the asymmetric synchronization does what is expected, deletes the non-existent empty folders in the left panel from the right panel and synchronizes the empty folders present in the left panel creating the missing ones in the right panel.

Even in symmetrical synchronization the function is now fine and allows you to synchronize empty (orphan) folders only by checking the option.

Great!

P.S. I am attaching the image of 1744 (orphan) +78 (empty) asymmetric synchronized folders ...
