Should internal space equal root in size?

TC shows my internal memory and my root folder with the same total size.

I have a rooted tab but stock firmware and first also the firmware/other apps showed the tab as a 16Gb device.
At this point TC showed my tab as under 10Gb
I had to resize Data in recovery to make firmware/apps like Device maintenance/My files show correct 32Gb.

Okay, back to above photo.
Shouldn't internal memory and root show different total size?
I mean one of them should show 32Gb in my case, right or wrong?

It means that they are on the same partition.
