How to Use a Plugin?

Post by *kilowatt77 »

I downloaded a plugin that reads the information in a jpeg file. EXIF. I have installed the plug in but how do I use it? I have tried to select a jpeg file, but it doesn't show me any information on the jpeg. How do I get TC to display the EXIF? :?:

If it is a content plug-in, you will have to create custom columns for the properties the content plug-in offers. Right-click on the column-header of either file panel and select "Configure custom columns...". Then create a new column configuration and add all the columns with properties provided by TC and/or content plug-ins you like.

Hi   2kilowatt77   and welcome.

Depends on the plugin type you use (Packer WCX ; File system WFX ; Lister (View) WLX ; Content WDX)

My EXIF WDX-Plugin contains an readme.txt
Exif plugin version 1.4 for Total Commander

This plugin extracts digital camera data from JPG files, like exposure time.
Can be used in thumbnail view and custom column view, as well as in the
search and multi-rename functions.

thumbnail view >> SHOW menu (menu CONFIGURATION > Options... > Thumbnails > [x]Show custom fields....)
custom column view >> SHOW menu (https://www.ghisler.ch/wiki/index.php/Custom_columns)
search >> COMMANDS menu > Search > [Plugins]-tab
multi-rename function > FILES menu > Multi-Rename Tool... > [Plugins]-button

Suggestion:
Add explanation how to uninstall a plugin to this wiki.

(
Context: just installed the CatalogMaker plugin from this thread and now want to remove it completely from my system.
A forum search unearthed more info about uninstalling plugins, but that doesn't really help for this WCX plugin.
No uninstall info in the TC helpfile either, btw

Here is an example: "Creation of a 'Custom columns - View'"
You can also use the same steps, but for the content plugin Exif 2.6.
