Display F6 Rename/Move dialog even when the destination panel is a virtual folder (Bin)

Post by *DjobyDjoba »

Hi,

When the destination panel is the Windows bin, F6 on the source panel, I would like the display of the F6 Rename/Move dialog, not this messagebox "Move 1 file to \\recycledbin - YES |NO".

Is it possible?

No, this is not possible. All virtual folders have several limitations and this is one of them; the same applies to \\Desktop.

What is annoying is that sometimes there is a virtual folder on the destination panel, and in the source panel we want to move some files/folders (but not in the virtual folder, on another location on the hard drive). So F6 as usual, to select a destination path... bing, no we can't... have to go to the destination panel and quit the virtual folder, come back to the source panel to be able to use F6 command... This is annoying, it interrupts the workflow.

You can use Shift+F6 if you have more than one file selected.

Shift+F6 does not contain any filter and as you said is not consistent as it does not behave the same with one file...

Yes, the Move and Copy dialogs should behave consistently in the source panel whatever the destination panel IMHO.

Many times we (me at least...) specify the destination folder by the field "Copy/Move files in" in these dialogs (especially since the ability to invoke the directory menu with Ctrl+D, very handy), so without taking into account the destination panel.

For sure I understand all the copy/move options can't be available for virtual folders, but maybe there should be a way to keep the capabilities to copy and move in other directories.
