"Pin to taskbar" missing from context menu under Win10
"Pin to taskbar" is missing from context menu under Win10, while on the same file in Explorer it appears and works normally. I'm using latest TC x64.

Re: "Pin to taskbar" missing from context menu under Win10

Thanks for the info.
A search in the forums did not reveal much, only something i had reported several years ago about a missing "Pin to Start" menu item.Any more info about it? Is it due to something in TC or once again MS has made something that should work but doesn't?

Re: "Pin to taskbar" missing from context menu under Win10
MS doesn't want programs to be able to pin something to the taskbar. When using the context menu, you get back a command which you then execute yourself to add something. This could also be done without showing the context menu (silently), so MS is blocking it.

Great. Al those "security reasons" again, which have crippled Windows.
I wonder how difficult it would be for them to allow this operation but ask for UAC permission.
Anyway, thanks for the explanation Christian.

Hi Christian.
Sorry to revive this old thread, but could the following link be helpful in restoring this functionality?

Re: "Pin to taskbar" missing from context menu under Win10
This cannot be used to pin an arbitrary file to the task bar. The function is:
1. Named RequestPinCurrentAppAsync, so it can only pin the program which calls it, nothing else. There is also a function RequestPinAppListEntryAsync, but it only works on "Windows apps", not arbitrary files.
and
2. It can only be called by these "Windows apps" which are sold via Microsoft Store.
