Trying to visit totalcmd.net now, uBlock Origin barks, indicating that totalcmd.net is trying to redirecto to tkbo.com.

You know, the server not being reachable for a few days is not really a problem to cry about, as the site is a free offering run by a volunteer.
But letting the domain expire and having it immediatly turned bad and abused is concerning. Going forward, i will not referring totalcmd.net to anyone anymore, and only will refer to Christian's own plug-in list.

It might not be fair to the operator of the actual totalcmd.net plug-in list site who might not have had any control over what has happened with the domain, but under such circumstances asking potentially new and unsuspecting TC users to visit totalcmd.net (or any other site/domain operated in such slapdash fashion) would not only be not fair either, it could be worse...

Totalcmd.net works for me and it has already worked last night. It's definitely not a cached view as it shows today's updates.
There might be temporary redirect to some landing page with ads provided by domain registrar, but there shouldn't be any redirect to malware sites. Maybe you should change your DNS providers…

Oh, and don't use https://www.totalcmd.net, only totalcmd.net (without subdomains), forum.wincmd.ru and wincmd.ru domains are certified.

It seems I have looked at the wrong field. Whois says that the expiration date is 2022-03-07, and that the entry was updated this morning (that is, before I went to check it). I guess, it just took some time for DNS updates to flush through.

Most browsers now force using https so all used subdomains (including www) should be certified and all web content should be available by https. Redirecting or linking from https to http (even to external sites) should have no place. Some hostings use even more strict HSTS policy (redirect all http calls to https).

It doesn't work here, there's just parking page saying that domain may be for sale. And it's not old cached DNS. Right now, authoritative DNS servers listed for totalcmd.net (ns1.ndsplitter.com, ns2.ndsplitter.com, ns3.ndsplitter.com) all return these four addresses for totalcmd.net: 159.69.42.212, 159.69.186.9, 159.69.83.207, 95.216.161.60

Yes, please do - when you use www.totalcmd.net, the ceritifcate will include both www.totalcmd.net and totalcmd.net as alternative names. I'm using Let's encrypt for www.totalcommander.ch, and it does this with a single certificate.

For users who can't edit hosts file, using the above IP and the service hosts.cx I created the "previews" (temporary domains valid for 1 week) for these websites:
totalcmd.net: http://xhmhk.hosts.cx/
wincmd.ru: http://ob9gr.hosts.cx/
forum.wincmd.ru: http://rl2cb.hosts.cx/
Note that some files on wincmd.ru are hosted on plugin authors subdomains (authordomainname.wincmd.ru/), and to access them using hosts.cx, separate "previews" must be created for each desired subdomain.
P.S. I probably should warn the users NOT to try to register or login on these "preview" domains, do it only on original totalcmd.net/wincmd.ru and forum.wincmd.ru when they'll be alive, and in this case use https:// address to access them.

Yeah… I forgot that it uses nsN.totalcmd.net as name servers, so all that went down along with totalcmd.net. No idea why the domain still has incorrect DNS records, I'm waiting for the owner to reply. I have no access to these configurations to check/fix this myself.
