ALT+F5 shorcut key trouble

Anyone had any problems with the ALT+F5 key (pack files) ? In this pc which I have a ATI RADEON 9600 it flicks when I press the ALT+F5, I've checked every shortcut keys under the ATI display properties and i found nothing. I think the problem comes from the ati since the screen flicks when i press ALT+F5. HELP!

nervermind my post i found where to disable it, it says none there but it really was using the ALT+F5, I had to choose some other shortcut and then put back to NONE and hit apply, damm ati bugs or whatever!!

It's a known bug ant at least posted twice a month here .

Hmm is it really a bug? It is just a pure shortcut defined by ATI (which was a stupid idea, i have to admit).

When a software does not work as expected I call it buggy.

And that most of the people does not expect that ATI-Software hijackes the systemwide [Alt]+[F5] shortcut without asking or even telling the user is poven by each single request here.

So I call the [Alt]+[F5] thing the ATI-bug.

I also didn't like the ALT-F5 issue with ATI. No help from
ATI, but found out myself, see registry key below.

Controlling this option through video driver settings was only
possible when I actually connected a real TV to the video card.
Without that, use the registry, maybe needs reboot.

Bei einem Laptop bin ich an die Optionen nur rangekommen
wenn tatsächlich ein TV am S-VHS angeschlossen war. Die
Registry Modifikation geht natürlich immer, eventuell neu booten.

That for, Christian should add a reference in his forum FAQ. Of course you can argue that even that will not "save" us from having this question coming back on and on again since not so many users bother to read the FAQ. Oh, well!!...

There is common problem of global hotkeys. Microsoft Windows has no builtin global hotkey manager. Users could use such a manager to view/change global hotkeys easily. The is the main problem from my point of view.

And here's the proper way (with any version of ATI drivers released in 2004):

Control Panel \ Display Properties \ Settings \ Advanced \ Options: Uncheck the "Enable ATI taskbar icon application".

Indeed, useful functionality from ATI but very stupid decision to hijack ALT-F5. They could at least give you the oportunity to define your own combination of keys. It's like another "smart" thing they do. Regardless of the language of Windows you have (English in my case), the titles in all their panels under "Display Properties \ Settings \ Advanced" are always defined by what Regional Settings you have chosen, so you may have English Windows but you'll see their panels in German/French/Greek or whatever. You cannot chage that either. Veeeery smart. I hate it when they act like "Masters of the Universe". Just a little common sense guys...
