Not enough memory, search aborted

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Not enough memory, search aborted

Post by *engmod »

Hi Team,

V10.00
I use tcmd for doing large searches on a 40GB dataset of 168.980 files and 7716 folders.
After doing multiple searches over hours, I can get the above error.
The system has 32GB of ram and there is 25GB free.

Restarting tcmd and doing the search again always works.

The problem may relate to image files with an ace extension that are used in this data set.
When the "search archives" option is ticked, the error occurs.

Ace files are compressed files.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACE_(compressed_file_format)

At this point I have unticked the "search archives" box.

In this data set ace files are image files.

Interesting, could you send me a sample ace image file to support at ghisler dot com? It needs to be smaller than 2 MB.
It's possible that the ACE unpacking library loses a file handle when it cannot open the archive, resulting in a resource leak.

Thanks, but it doesn't seem to be caused by the ace file.

There may be problems with search in any plugin - either wcx or wdx - when dealing with incomplete downloads or broken files. In such cases unloading plugins may be helpful - just type cm_unloadPlugins in TC command line and press Enter.
