Post by *Horst.Epp »

As the subject says, I had a few crashes while TC was started.
I have enabled crash dumps and will send the link.

Since you get a WER report, it means that the error isn't directly in my code.

Therefore I need some kind of stack trace. Could you use the tool Procdump to create one for me, please:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900.aspx

I'm appending the German instructions too since you are from Germany, they may be easier to follow.

English:
1. Create new directory c:\dumps
2. Create a lnk file of procdump.exe or procdump64.exe (for 64-bit Windows)
in Total Commander with Ctrl+Shift+F5, e.g. procdump.lnk
3. Open the properties of the lnk file with Alt+Enter
4. Change the command from c:\path\procdump.exe to
"c:\path\procdump.exe" -ma -i c:\dumps
5. Important: Click on "Advanced" and check option "As administrator"
6. Run procdump with this link file
7. Wait until the crash occurs.
8. Send me the dump file from c:\dumps.

German:
Ich benötige einen Stacktrace. Sie können das Tool Procdump benutzen, um einen solchen zu erzeugen:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900.aspx

1. Neues Verzeichnis c:\dumps o.ä. anlegen
c:\pfad\procdump.exe -ma -i c:\dumps
5. Wichtig: Auf "Erweitert" klicken und "Als Administrator" aktivieren
6. Procdump über diese Verknüpfung starten
7. Warten bis der Absturz auftritt.
8. Mir den Crashdump aus c:\dumps schicken (gezippt).

Sorry, I just saw that you already sent me a crash dump via GMail. I have analyzed it now. According to the report, it occurs in OptaneShellExt.dll, apparently an "Intel Optane Pinning Shell Extension". You can try to update or uninstall it.

Strangely I got an immediate virus warning from Windows defender about a "Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml". This is probably a false positive, but you should still check whether you have any infections.

I can't understand the Virus warning ?
It's probably a false positive. The file download was deleted immediately when I downloaded it, and I had to choose "Allow" in Microsoft Windows Defender and re-download the file to be able to analyze it.
