Replacing directly in search results !!!

Post by *Sylvain Weiller »

Hi,
[In this message I will use the example of AVI as old files and MP4 as new ones]

I have a disk with old giant videos (3 + GB !)
I made a search for all those files on the disk asking for files > 3GB.
Then I used a converter to convert them [AVIs] to MP4 by dragging result files from the search window into the converter and saved the result MP4 videos at the root of the disk.

Now to replace all the old and large AVIs by the new equivalent MP4 I have to open a second instance of TC and search manually in the disk to find all individual old AVI files directories by getting infos from the search result window !! Then I have to move the individual MP4 from root to the discovered directory then to delete the old AVI file ... Doing this for dozens or hundreds of files takes a considerable amount of time !!

My suggestion is that at minimum it would be possible to drag the MP4 files directly in the search window so they are moved there automatically in the right place.
Even better would be that an option would permit to delete the old AVI files with the same name working like this :
- dragging MP4 files to search result --->
- Message pop up : "Do you want to delete files with same name ?" Yes ! (/ No)
- Message : "Extension(s) of old files to be deleted ?" [answer would be AVI but could be AVI; MPEG; ...]

Please see screen capture below...

The feed to listbox allows to work with the results.
Also you can Shift click feed to listbox to get the results into a new tab.

1. Alt+F7
2. Search in: C:\path\to\MP4;D:\path\to\AVI
3. Advanced tab: ☑ Find duplicate files: mark only ☑ same plugin fields: [=tc.name]
4. [Start Search]
5. [Feed to listbox]
6. Num+, Enter
7. Delete/F8
1-5 can be wrapped into: LOADSEARCH== <stored search>

You forgot the most important thing: How to move MP4 files back to AVI locations?

I guess it's too late, but I would have set the converter to convert the AVIs to MP4s into the same folder.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

I guess it's been impossible. Lack of free space.

What would I do.

1. Find all .AVI files, feed to listbox, copy all names with filepaths.
2. Go to target folder, select all .MP4 files, Open MRT, open Editor for editing names.
3. In the editor paste the clipboard, replace .avi to .mp4, remove the disk from paths (ex. d:\), Save, Close.
4. Press Start in MRT
Result will be all .mp4 files in same directory structure as .avi files.
5. Move the newly created folder structure to same level where the .avi files are.
