I am very sorry for misinformation. My report was misleading.
In Vista and newer systems you should test Shift+Delete/Shift+F8 or change VistaDelete setting in wincmd.ini. In Windows XP and older systems messages are almost identical, both with "?" warning sound in normal TC mode.

Do you use the option "Use Explorer delete method" in Configuration - Options - Copy/Delete? It doesn't support dark mode.

Never. Just do tests in Windows XP and with Shift+Delete/Shift+F8 in Windows 7, please.

I have tried it now:
When using VistaDelete, TC does not show its own configuration dialog if you have delete configuration enabled in recycle bin. Then F8/Del will not play a sound because the Explorer doesn't play one. Shift+Del doesn't go via VistaDelete, so it plays the question mark sound.

There may be more similar cases. That's why additional configuration for sounds in dark mode would be a nice feature.

Here's another case of "I" message making sound in dark mode:
viewtopic.php?t=77461
One more "No files selected"...
