icon overlays, feature request

Post by *romamik »

In windows there is a possibility to create shell extentions that display icon overlays for files. Total Commander does not show these overlays. (And AFAIK no other file manager except Windows Explorer does).

For an example of what these overlays are you can look at TortoiseSVN http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/.

And to find how they are implemented read this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/shellcc/platform/shell/programmersguide/shell_int/shell_int_extending/extensionhandlers/iconoverlayhandlers.asp

IMHO it is not very hard to implement this. Not harder than already imlemented per-file context-menus.

:) Hello ! Welcome on board !
- The Search should show you that this subject has been discussed here a lot of times :P
- The overlay icons will be supported in the next version, I guess.
In anyway, it's limited, since isn't supported by Win 9x at all…

 Kind regards,
Claude
