Lister started trying to download some files from internet ???
Hi all,
Problem exists since about 2 weeks only...
I tried everything I could think of with the internal lister. configuration, of course, and doing things while viewing (this DOES sometimes work), but next time I press F3 again I have this stupid attempt to download a file. Here is a screen dump:
Image: https://eitang.pagesperso-orange.fr/files/csvpb.jpg
With another version of the same TC (much "lighter" in terms of personal addons) I do not have this problem. Admittedly, the \WLX\ forlder is a lot thinner in the second TC...
If needed I will give more details. As for now, this is the situation. The probem is NOT with wincmd.ini, I checked that.
BTW, Lister tries somethimes to loqad PLAIN ascii files as UniCode. why? how to stop that?
BTW2: Is ther anywhere a full manual for that wonderful internel Lister ???
Thanks in advance,
Eitan Gilboa

Re: Lister started trying to download some files from internet ???
It's obvious that some Lister plugin is causing this. Comment them out one by one until you find the culprit. When you have found the plugin causing this, you can adjust the _detect line used for this plugin. HTML viewer type plugins, especially ones associated with CSV files in their _detect line, look like a good starting point.

Which of the plugins is marked in the Plugins menu?
BTW, you can edit your first post and fix the link.

Thanks both of you !!!

Many thanks, white for your advice. Post editted, but I can't delete thesecond one ... I do not understand your question. I looked in the pluggins list and nothing seemed unnormal. perhaps I didn't look in the right one ?
Dalai:
Indeed, I found one such pluggin: iEView (surprisingly <g>) Deleting its positions.ini file (which contained some suspicious mentions of CSV solved the problem. Is this the only pluggin causing the problem? I don't know. will deleting positions.ini create other problems ? I also don't know... $
Anyway the immediate problem is solved. Thank you. Interestingly, all files in the folder are a lot olfder than the apparition of the problem, but then we know how to leave changed files with their original date...
Eitan.

From which site did you get a plugin named IEView ?
Its not on TCs plugin page and not on Totalcmd.net.
Known good plugins for viewing html pages are HTMLView or EdgeViewer.

I have had IEview_1.94a in my collection from here: https://wincmd.ru/plugring/ieview.html
It's a plugin from 2005 and I cannot see any reasonable grounds for anyone to use it these days.

Sorry I had a typo in my search on totalcmd.net.
The IEView plugin is more than old and as you said 32-bit only.
The EdgeViewer is actual and replaced HTMLView and the mark down plugin for me.

Re: Lister started trying to download some files from internet ???
I meant the Plugins menu of the Lister window which is visible on your screenshot.

IEView was the predescessor ot the HTMLView plugin.
You can see the same question about saving a file if you use HTMLView to open pdf files (pdf has to be in the plugins HTMLExtensions list) - it is because HTMLView passes the file to the systems default pdf viewer that it needs the permission. Nothing dangerous about that.

Hi all and many thanks for your replies !!

>> You can see the same question about saving a file if you use HTMLView to open pdf files
YES! I hadn't mentioned it as it happens rarely but some similar behaviour exists also with other lister "combinations".
>> it is because HTMLView passes the file to the systems default pdf viewer that it needs the permission.
Impressive understanding ! Chapeau !

>> It's a plugin from 2005 and I cannot see any reasonable grounds for anyone to use it these days.
I have been accumulating TC stuff since 1996... Since I do not have such profound understanding of pluggins, I quickly forget the pluggins and certainly where they came from... Therefore, after 20 years I do not delete them...

>> From which site did you get a plugin named IEView ?
No idea, sorry. But I am sure it's one of the usual sites we all use.
Thank you all again,
Eitan.
