Command to add a program to Start Menu NOT WORKING

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Command to add a program to Start Menu NOT WORKING

Post by *sscireca »

I tried adding a program to the Start Menu in Windows 11 (but it didn't work on Windows 10 either with all versions of TC)

The procedure I follow is as follows .. which is po the same as with File Explorer):

- I open with TC the folder where the file that launches the program resides
- I press the combination SHIFT+F9
- in the menu that opens, I select and execute "Add to Start Menu" or "Remove from Start Menu"

However, the command is not executed.

How can I solve the problem?

We need more info:

- which version of tc do you use?
- where is tc installed (the complete path)?
- where is are the settings located?

SHIFT+F9? in TC thats the default shortcut to open the context menu of the file under the cursor (same as a right mouse click)

If you mean "Pin to Start", then this is a known issue that this menu item only works in Explorer.

To my knowledge it is intentional, to prevent apps from spamming the "Pin to start" location with ads and other unwanted stuff.

YES, obviously ... it's the only way that I know to execute the command to add a program to START MENU

nothing obvious about that as TC has a "Start Menu" too.
