Hi Christian, hi wcx developers,

what do you think about following part of ms announcement in "Optional Update for Windows 11 22H2 KB5020044", which is in the Release Preview Channel at this moment, but will be a new optional update for all users soon?

...
  • We added .wcx to the list of Dangerous Extensions that some app control policies do not allow.

Well, .wcx files are dlls, so they should be handled with the same caution as .exe files. It surprises me a bit that Microsoft limits files by extension and not by content.

I suspect it is because of a different use of the wcx extension:
It is also used for the windows "RemoteApp and Desktop Connections Configuration File"

Configuration files are normaly not considered being dangerous.
TC wcx files are executable code and therefore may be classified as risky.

Yes, it's possible. As described on the linked page:
fileinfo.com wrote: Developer: Microsoft
When you receive a WCX file, you can open it by double-clicking it. However, sometimes system administrators create scripts that "silently," or automatically, open the WCX file so that the user does not have to open it manually.
