the same history in both sides (left and right pane)

Post by *extelligenzia »

Hi
often it would be rly helpfull if the same history was shown for both panes.
I thought there was a setting, but i can not find it.
Often when i copy a lot, that would be helpfull
its nice to have a brain that can think, then I dont need to

This was already requested and is not yet available.
I tried to redirect both history sections to the same ini file
but unfortunately TC then writes again 2 seperate sections into this redirected file.

Perhaps this will help after choosing from history:

KEYBOARD.TXT
CTRL+SHIFT+UP Open dir under cursor in other window (new tab)
CTRL+left or right Open directory/archive and display it in the target window.
CTRL+U Exchange directories
CTRL+SHIFT+U Exchange directories and tabs

Not a real solution :(
I don't see any reason why there can't be a global history.
It would help if redirecting the left and right history sections worked as expected.

Support! 👍

And maybe with a switch with different ways to activate this option:
1) Make the left pane history the same in both panes on activating 'same history in both panes'.
2) Make the right pane history the same in both panes on activating 'same history in both panes'.
3) Merge left and right histories on activating 'same history in both panes'.

Just an idea.. :o

No new functions needed.
Just one cm_GlobalHistory which we can assign to an hotkey.

Or perhaps meanwhile a simple script that adjusts both histories to be the same on Alt-Down.

With Alt+Down, the history is read from memory, not from ini, so the script will not help here.

Fla$her,
In that case, one could perhaps monitor dir changes in TC and provide an alternative history menu. Would not be trivial, though.
