Yes, it's correct.
If you have Xp Spanish and finally you can not find a solution to this problem you can try to reinstall Xp over the old version using Repair option.

Or you can try to reinstall fonts,

Bye, buenas tardes...
Thanks sas2000!

If CoMike doesn't have more solutions, I will try this.

Go to lister options, and click on variable font selection button.

If you select Tahoma or Microsoft Sans Serif, what alphabets can you select and what's the default one?
Have you got any other solution?

Thanks!

Icons in DLLs…

Post by *Clo »

2Vansumsen
:) Hello Paul !
• Let try :
1. Open the DLL in Lister (you have IclView), then press 4NUM. Alas, that doesn't work for 32-bit DLLs, like I could experiment…
- You can attempt to rename as *.ICL too.

2. Open the DLL in XnView. Whether there are icons inside, you'll get a scroll-down list with a preview area { please, consult the very good XnView-French Help… ;) }

3. Some DLLs contain alright icons, but it's not possible to view them simply; I've some ones such as for drive-buttons. :(

In order to use this add the following line in your wincmd.ini file under [Configurations] pointing to the path of the file:

e.g.
drivelib=c:\Program Files\totalcmd\Various\driveicons\DrvCst.dll

Restart and observe your new drive icons!

Nope, I can't think about any more.

The most similar problem I've ever got was having all my menu texts replaced with underscores, but I don't remember what was the cause.

Anyway, if I were in your situation, I would reinstall my fonts, and if not working, then I'd reinstall my O.S.

Good luck!

- In fact, this library contains bitmaps, and not icons…
- Nicely drawn, but a bit too pale for my taste… ;)

Hi sgarrido:

:idea: I've had the same problem as you had (still have?). I also run WinXP Spanish edition and can affirm the problem deals not with the fonts at all, but with the system codepage. This has, for some reason changed to Eastern Europe (Cyrillyc) for some reason or another. Tell me: Do you run MS Outlook too? Has Outlook begun showig errors at startup because it can't find its config files? Well, if this is true, its because WinXP (as well as Win2K) is a Unicode OS, that is, it has Unicode implementation for displaying every single character from any possible language not only at application level (the method implemented in MS Office for Win98, which wasn't Unicode), but also and most important, at System level, that is, the entire filesystem is coded in Unicode as long as you have NTFS partitions, of course, which are native to WinXP and W2k. If your partitions are FAT32, then you should NOT experience errors in Outlook, but that would explain the problems in displaying the chars.

(an explanation: in Spanish, the "Local Configuration" folder is called "Configuración Local", which has a special accented "ó" character that "mutates" to any weird character when the system codepage is changed. Well, In this folder Windows applications store most of its configuration files, and thus the critical problems I have had in Outlook)

I have assembled a small Registry fix to help you solve the problem. It simply restores the default system codepage translations to the original settings. Note that I have used this solution ONLY in the Spanish edition of WinXP and Win2k, BUT it should work in other western language editions as well (our codepages are the same)

Just cut and paste the following section into a file named "something.reg" and then import it ("run" the file) into the registry and reboot (you HAVE to reboot). It should be fixed now. Please tell me if it worked.

===
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage]

"1250"="c_1250.nls"
"1251"="c_1251.nls"
"1252"="c_1252.nls"
"1253"="c_1253.nls"
"1254"="c_1254.nls"
===

This tweak does not involve critical settings and should cause no harm at all to your system, but as always, dealing with the registry is a tricky and dangerous thing, so you assume all the risks.

Hope this helps. :D

Sergio

Well, well, this is funny, it's been quite some time I won my last prize (school perhaps?) Thanks.

Did this solve your problem then?
