Select only files
Hi!. When i select files i usually want to mark Files & Directories so that in Configuration --> Operation --> Selection (with +gray) I have marked Also Select Directories.
But sometimes i want to select only files and not directories, is it possible to do this with a Tc command?.
"Cm_CompareDirs" select files and not directories, but obviously is not the command that i'm looking for.
Thanks.
you can select only file while "Also select directories" is marked as follow
1- Press "Num +" to select group
2- Press "Define..." button
3- in search for field type *.* to select all files or *.xxx to select file with xxx extention only
4- in Advanced tab mark all attributes but clear Directory
5- in Save/Load tab press save button and name this as "Select files only"
now each time you want select files only press "Num +" and load "Select files only"
1- Press "Num +" to select group
2- Press "Define..." button
3- in search for field type *.* to select all files or *.xxx to select file with xxx extention only
4- in Advanced tab mark all attributes but clear Directory
5- in Save/Load tab press save button and name this as "Select files only"
now each time you want select files only press "Num +" and load "Select files only"
Or alternatively, for more flexibility:
Define a saved selection with just Directories selected. Name it "Directories"
Then, make your selection as you wish it (*.xxx, wildcards, whatever)
Press Numeric- then select "Directories". This will unselect just the directories.
It involves 1 more key, but it is fast once you get used to it and besides provides you the possibility to define any selection mask you like.

One more solution, but it's only for the future (6.5): as Christian says, there will be command for jumping on the first file (not directory) in the current folder. So you will be able to assign this command to some shortcut, press that shortcut and then press Shift+End.
And one more solution that I use at present in 6.03, but it is not absolutely correct one
To use Num+ with saved pattern it is necessary either to use mouse for selecting the type of files from the list, or press Tab, then several times Down. That's a bit inconvenient for me. So I use the fact that directories are usually called without any extension, and files are usually called with some extension. So I move the cursor to the any folder (Home, then Down, for example), press Alt + Num+ for all folders to become selected, and then Num* to invert the selection.
Of course, this will work properly only if you have no files without extension and no folder with extension, but on my disks this is right in 95% cases.
