[TC 11.00b6] Hotkeys for cm_OpenDriveByIndex don't work for negative values in the "Parameters:" field

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

You don't understand. Assigning Ctrl+Shift+1 with a negative value, and Ctrl+Shift+2 with a positive one, I made an erroneous conclusion that it was a matter of parameters. I wrote above:
Fla$her wrote: ↑2023-06-08, 20:19 UTC Parameters are optional. I'm writing in general about the operability of combinations.
That is, during the testing process, I realized that it's not about negative parameters, but problems with specific combinations.

I can create a separate topic on the problem with 3 combinations if you want.

Sorry, my English isn't good enough to understand what you mean. Do you want to say that certain key combinations work with parameters, while others don't work? If yes, can you list the key combinations which don't work with parameters for you?
I tried Ctrl+Shift+1 and Alt+Shift+1, and they both support both positive and negative parameters for me.

You're talking about parameters again. If they are not mandatory, then they can be omitted. Right?
And I, having figured it out, immediately listed these 3 combinations:
Fla$her wrote: ↑2023-06-08, 16:24 UTC I decided to bind the keys to cm_SrcNegOrder, and it turned out that Ctrl+Shift+1, Alt+Shift+1 and Alt+Shift+2 do not work on XP.

No problem with Alt+[0-9], Ctrl+[0-9], Shift+[0-9], Ctrl+Alt+[0-9], Ctrl+Shift+[0,2-9], Alt+Shift+[0,3-9] and Ctrl+Alt+Shift+[0-9]

I see. Unfortunately, I don't have any thoughts about the reasons.

Is it only Ctrl+Shift and Alt+Shift in combination with a number that does not work for you, or is it also with letters or function keys?

As you can see, I have specified only two digits, and not all in a row.

There have never been any problems in combination with letters. I checked with the function keys β€” the same thing.

I think I found something, please try again with beta 7 when it comes out.

Alas, the problem remained in the 7th beta.

It works for me now with Ctrl+Shift+1 and Ctrl+Shift+2!
The problem was that Ctrl and Shift were interpreted to open the drive in a new tab. This was fixed in beta 7.

Apparently, my problem is related to something else. And I didn't complain about Ctrl+Shift+2.

??? You wrote

Can you please clarify what you mean exactly? Do you mean that Ctrl+Shift+1 doesn't work for you, but Ctrl+Shift+2 does?
Then it could be that another program has reserved Ctrl+Shift+1 for itself system-wide.

There is a new tool to find such system-wide hotkeys, Hotkey detective:

Yes. I even gave a clipping from the quote above:

I gave you a clear explanation twice that the testing was carried out in conditions without any programs other than system/service ones.
See the list of processes and services.

I'm moving this to "will not be changed" since it has nothing to do with the thread title, but with another app stealing away just Ctrl+Shift+1.

I tested these again with TC 11.00b7 under Windows XP Home 32bit SP3:

Code: Select all

[Shortcuts]
CS+1=cm_SrcNegOrder
AS+1=cm_SrcNegOrder
AS+2=cm_SrcNegOrder
And they all worked as expected.

Sometimes certain keyboard keys and key combinations are reserved in a computers BIOS (I have a PC where BIOS by default assign the F-keys to multimedia functions) - could that be the case here since your XP computer obviously works differently from mine.

This is definitely not related to the BIOS. I checked on DirOpus, hotkeys are not available there. But I can't imagine how to find out what exactly reserves them.
