[TC 10-11.00beta] QuickSearch dialog position
I didn't use Windows Taskbar at the down of screen for many years.
But now I migrated to Windows 11 and found a strange situation.
Don't remember situations when programs draw part of the window elements on top over the Taskbar.
Is this bug or standard TC behaviour:

Please try Total Commander 11.00 beta 9.
For me, unlike you, only the status bar is covered and I think that's fine.

The same situation. Nothing changes.

I forgot to mention that I am using QuickSearch eXtended_Version 2.3.1.
[PS: In this regard (QuickSearch eXtended), I have sent a separate crash report by email].
Windows 11 Pro (x64) Version 22H2 (OS build Build 22621.1928) | TC 11.00b9 x64

What else would you have tc do if you put tc so far down?LonerD wrote: 2023-06-28, 23:52 UTC I didn't use Windows Taskbar at the down of screen for many years.

Re: [TC 10-11.00beta] QuickSearch dialog position (bug or not?)
I expected see nothing.
For example - try to put Windows Notepad window so far down and write text. Do you see text over Taskbar? Not at all. And almost all other programs have the same behavior.
Therefore, the question- is it planned TC behavior on my screenshot or bug?

In principle, this is quite logical behavior. Another solution is unlikely to be appropriate here.
We ourselves have lowered the main window so low that any elements that should have been drawn just under the border of the main window should now logically be drawn outside of the entire screen. Well, we ourselves drove this lower limit of Total there!
DO NOT display anything at all? So this will be the next bug that the quick search window does not open at all)))))
Does this window work? Yes, it looks very inappropriate, but this is a temporary situation. The size of the main window should be adjusted to the resolution and size of the monitor so that this does not appear on an ongoing basis.
Of course, Mr.Ghisler can probably try to adjust the display limit of the quick search window by the height of the taskbar, so that even in such an inconvenient situation this window would be displayed at the maximum at the junction of the taskbar and the Total window and "do not fall" below this border on the panel itself, as it is now seen.
But by the way - the current implementation is very suitable for those who use the taskbar at the top, and not at the bottom - as many have done by default. In such a position, such a low position of the quick search window with the main window of Total lowered so low is a very appropriate position...

As you KNOW that is not the same.
THIS is the same:

And all other programs have the same behavior.
Therefore, not a bug?

Re: [TC 10-11.00beta] QuickSearch dialog position (bug or not?)
It's not a bug. The main window reaches under the task bar, and TC tries to show the quick search window below the file list, AND within the visible window. That's why you get it at the bottom of the screen.
Just move the main window up so it's fully visible, then choose menu Configuration - Save position.

In this case some elements (search window, multi-rename window, ftp window) draw in different positions of the screen. Some elements (create new dir window, create new file window) draw partially under the Taskbar.AntonyD wrote: 2023-06-29, 08:14 UTC We ourselves have lowered the main window so low that any elements that should have been drawn just under the border of the main window should now logically be drawn outside of the entire screen.
And only quick search/filter window appears over the Taskbar.

I understood.
Please, move this topic.

Re: [TC 10-11.00beta] QuickSearch dialog position [not a bug]
It is created with option "always on top" so it will appear on top of the task bar. This is necessary when the user has disabled both the command line and the buttons at the bottom and the window is maximized. And only quick search/filter window appears over the Taskbar.

I jumped to conclusions.
Problem with QuickSearch still not resolved.
TC window moved down below the screen - QuickSearch dialog is moved to be visible.
As we found out in this thread, this is normal behavior.

TC window moved to the right of the screen borders - QuickSearch dialog is moved to be visible.
Image: https://i.imgur.com/MYvn3mH.png
TC window moved to the left of the screen borders - QuickSearch dialog NOT be visible.
Image: https://i.imgur.com/yTfXsSF.png
And this behavior is not logical in the context of the two previous position.
TC window moved up below the screen - the same problem, QuickSearch dialog NOT be visible.

If QuickSearch dialog moves in some situations, it should move and be visible in other situations as well.

Re: [TC 10-11.00beta] QuickSearch dialog position
The behavior is meant for users with multiple screens, not for users who move the program outside of the visual area and then expect that the quick search window is still fully visible.
